A bayonet dagger adorned with hammered silver and coral embellishments to demonstrate wealth and power. From a Khampa at the Kirti fire puja held during Losar.
The bayonet was a common blade used in the more remote parts of Tibet where local steel was not prevalent or adequate. This bayonet has an interesting history – it was made in Czechoslovakia in the early 1920s, and how it made its way to Kham, Tibet, is probably a good story.
