A magnificent, custom made set of essential tools for survival anywhere on The Roof of the World.
Authentic early 20th century Amdo region of Qinghai / Eastern Tibet. A beautiful set from a private collection.
In excellent condition, this was the essential travelling set for the successful nomad. Knife loops onto a belt while the Nyicha clips and hangs on the belt. Items secured by filigree double strand chain.
Knife blade has single fuller on each side. Knife handle and scabbard are dark hardwood decorated with hammered silver patterns of never-ending knot, conch shells, and lotus blossoms. Coral cabochon centered on scabbard which holds two silver capped ivory chopsticks.
Nyicha firestarter holder is kirtimukha (the Face of Glory) atop the steel and flapped yak hide pouch which would hold flint and tinder. Flap surmounted with small coral in lotus bed. Belt hangar nicely hammered with coral centerpiece.
