A new style of utility use or belt knife. Purchased from knife maker in Xiahe town, Gansu Province, near Labrang Monastery.
Sheath is yak leather, nicely tooled with colourful additions in Tibetan traditional colours. Belt loop.
Blade is finely etched, with single fuller on each side and one on the top thickness running the length of the blade (see fourth photo). Dated April 1999.
Handle is etched in detail, with gem-like stones as highlight. Central dark part is black yak horn. Handle is etched top and underside. Last photo shows hallmark as seventh blade of 1999.
